Two Crime Stories

Have you seen this man?  He robbed a Palm Harbor, FL bank this week, but the big to-do has been his Hawaiian shirt.  People are astounded that someone would wear one while pulling off a bank job.  The phone lines have been jammed as people try to figure out which shirt he wore.

The Mad Gringo Forensics Lab has reported that the perpetrator was not wearing a Mad Gringo shirt.  However, Mad Greg is writing a completely fictional novella called If I Did It.

A second disturbing story broke that affects us all: sand theft.  The Huffington Post reports that people are stealing sand at an alarming rate, and it not only threatens ecological stability but tourism.  Who wants to enjoy surf and sun without the sand?

We've decided that we just can't tolerate this kind of behavior.  In light of these horrible events, Mad Gringo put more items on sale.  He wants everyone to look good, no matter what they can afford.  Prices up to 80% off!

Private Island

Mad Gringo wonders if some people have too much money.  Not you, of course, but there are some folks who are in the market for their own private island.  Sometimes, Mad Greg spends hours checking out potential hideaways.  When he gets really antsy, he looks at the celebrity-owned islands and wonders how long he could secretly live there before someone found his palm tree hut.

We're taking bets to see if he'll do it.  Mad Jebb gives him three weeks.  I'm not sure he'll get help building the raft, but if he watches Castaway one more time, it might drive him over the edge.

No More Ties

If it's in print, it must be true.  Mad Gringo spotted an article that said ties are on the way out forever.  Complete with pics of George Clooney and Brad Pitt.  told you it was true.

Yee Haw!

In today's mail, Mad Gringo got an autographed, glossy 8-by-10 photograph with the confident mug of Kenny Chesney.  Yep, Kenny Chesney the country musician.  He's got songs called "No, Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems," "Beer in Mexico," and "Guitars and Tiki Bars."  Seems to be our kind of guy.

Still, Mad Gringo has a hard time imaging this guy lounging in a Running with Bamboo shirt.  Kenny seems to be a You Gotta Earn Them Beads Straw Beach Hat man.

This whole thing has Mad Brian turning in circles again.  He wants to know if we should send a shirt to Kenny.  Maybe not a Hawaiian shirt, but a beach tee.  A hat?  Flip flops?  Who knows!  If you think we should send something to Kenny, let Mad Brian know what Mad Gringo gear to pack up.

Superman in a Hawaiian Shirt

The rumors are true: Superman has ditched the cape and tights in favor of a Hawaiian shirt.  Well, only in a Korean movie called "If I Were Superman."  And he might not be Superman.  Mad Gringo cares not.  He just knows it's about time for this to happen.  Watch the trailer with English subtitles (unless you speak Korean).

Don't Drink the Water

Every traveler has heard that.  Mad Kellie sent us an article today that says even bottled water isn't what it seems.  Discuss among yourselves.

Now that the water issue is out of the way, Mad Gringo is happy to reveal a new lineup of Sanuk sandals and Sidewalk Surfers.  One important note: they're not shoes!  Sidewalk Surfers are incognito sandals.  They have a great contoured footbed, so they feel wicked comfortable.  Why else would Mad Gringo have them?  If you have to go to one of those high-class "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" joints, wear your Sanuks.

The fashion-obsessed folks at Bluefly have declared that Hawaiian shirts are back in a big way.  If you need to prove your point to a spouse, significant other, friend, co-worker, garbage man or anyone else who has complained about your shirt, this is your shot at vindication.  Make a comment on the Bluefly post to support our position!
